About Our Camp

Pasquotank-Camden Public Safety Youth Camp

JULY 15th-19th 2024

Camp date and time

  • Ages 11-17: July 15-19, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

​

There is no fee to register, however, pre-registration is required.  The camp is limited to 25 participants and will be selected using a lottery system if applications exceed 30. Residents of Pasquotank and Camden counties will be given preference in the event the camp fills up.

Join Pasquotank and Camden County Public Safety Agencies for hands-on fun at the 1st Annual Public Safety Youth Summer Camp. This FREE week long camp is for local middle school and high school youth ages 11-17. 

​

PLEASE NOTE: Submitting a registration form does not guarantee admittance to the camp. Due to the large number of interested applicants, the participants admitted to this camp will be determined via a lottery system. Those selected will be notified after registration closes on or about June 2nd.

 

The camp will be held at the Elizabeth City Boys and Girls Club at 108 East Ward Street (next to Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Parks & Rec) and will visit various agency locations throughout the week Map available here.

The Youth Camp is a joint effort between Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management, Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office, Elizabeth City Police Department, Camden County Sheriff's Office, Elizabeth City Fire Department, Pasquotank-Camden EMS, Central Communications (911) and the United States Coast Guard. The camp will give area youth an opportunity to engage in fun and educational activities while learning some of the skills of each career.

Some of the activities will include: 

  • Drone use in Public Safety 

  • Intelligence and Crime scene investigation

  • DWI enforcement

  • Crash Investigation

  • First Aid and CPR

  • Fire extinguisher skills

  • Engine & Ladder Company Operations

  • US Coast Guard Base Visit

  • Severe Weather preparedness

  • And more!

These activities will be under the supervision and at the instruction of members of the listed public safety agencies. All participants will be assigned an adult counselor for the week. 

​

Lunch and snacks will be provided.

​

Additional Details

Parents/guardians may drop off between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. each morning and pick-up will be from 4:15 - 4:45 p.m. each day.
